Are everyone in our country treated equally?

Fundamental rights say “Right to equality of treatment before the law (fair legal procedures)”. But is that really happening in our democratic country? All of us can come to a conclusion that above statement will not hold true in case of “Quota System”.

It is true that most of the social leaders, especially Mr.B.R.Ambedkar fought for educating the backward community people. So to bring limelight, Ambedkar gave some suggestions to Government in bringing laws regarding quota system. The ultimate purpose was to educate the backward community people. When he proposed these, he also told that this system has to be revised accoring to time.

But now, can we come to a conclusion that does this get revised properly? Now the scenario is getting reversed. We come across lot of students who get excellent marks in there P.U.C/+2 are unable to get a seat in Engineering/ Medical colleges not only because of the reason that they are not wealthy enough, more importantly they belong to Forward community (O.C.). At the same time, there are some students who get less marks in their academics but still succeed in getting a seat in Medical/Engineering because of their Caste what we call a Backward Community (S.C/S.T/M.B.C.).

As per educational perspective, a brighter student can certainly cope up well than that of an ordinary student. But when a student actually has the ability to study but because of these sort of reasons, he/she misses it, then we can surely say our country is wasting rather missing, lot of talents.

We must accept the fact that there are lot of backward community people who are very poor. But does this quota system go and reach them properly? The reason behind is that the person who is from good economic background is taking good advantage of the system than that of the poor one.

Can any one of us tell today that, are all forward community people more wealthier than that of a backward community people? We don’t know why, most of the Political parties who proudly say “No” to caste system doesn’t take any action in removing the caste column! Doesn’t this sound to be a “bane” for poor forward community people.

For all these, we can’t and should not blame the backward community people. But, we can say Government has failed to take steps for producing a proper balanced result for all sort of people. We all know the only way we can conclude is by introducing “Quota based on a person’s Economic basis” which is acceptable one. But the main reason for not implementing this system is mainly because of politicians, who fear they might lose their votes.

Even after lot of debates, the removal of outer creamy layer, analysis…, we are unable to come to a proper conclusion. The question remains as such…..”Do we all have our equality of treatment before the law, as per fundemental rights?”

Are we Patriotic?

The word “Patriot” is given to a person who loves and defends his/her country. But now we are able to see lot of people who love their state than their country. One best recent example for the above statement is the Hogenekkal issue.

Hogenekkal issue was supposed to be solved by the Tamil nadu and Karnataka Government. Both the Tamil nadu and Karnataka activists raised a protest against each other which included damaging/torching of buses, theatres, etc... Did these activists come up with final conclusion about the issue? Are kannadiga people residing in Tamil Nadu (or) Tamil people residing in Karnataka are root cause for this issue? Then what is the purpose of threatening the common people? Why the Government is failing to stop or take some steps against these activists? Why the opposite parties of ruling government in both state supports those activists and involve themselves in the issue? Doesn’t this sound to be for mere political support?

Both Tamil nadu & Karnataka film industry did a one day hunger strike. A renowned Tamil actor Sathyaraj shouted at the Public that, “If you are born, you must born as a tamizhan.” He also gave his speech in such a way that stimulates violence to the public. It was quite similar to that of Raj Thackeray’s speech. But in movies, he’ll expose himself to be very patriotic. Can you tell this as patriotism?

Most of them who are involved in unethical act forget that those people to whom we are fighting with are our neighbors and they also belong to our country. Doesn’t it humiliate us? After degrading us to such a lower extent, can we really feel proud of our country? If soldiers who guard our nation starts to fight among themselves for these reasons, will our country be protected?
And last but not least, of us how many of the people will stand in attention after hearing our National Anthem? Even if a person does, most of them laugh at him/her and they also give answer that “Respect is in one’s heart and not how you react”. He/she will misguide a person who is proper. We hear a simple proverb, “Preach what you Practice and practice what you preach”. If we respect and treat everyone equally at least within our nation with equal importance and liberty, hope everyone will be a patriot.
